66 Years Ago Today

On March 1, 1947, sixty-six years ago today, Betsy “Bettie” (Seely) Williams (1858-1947), my 3rd great grandmother by adoption, died in Hillsboro, Washington Co., Oregon. According to her death certificate, Bettie died from “senility and generalized arteriosclerosis.”

Bettie was buried on March 4, 1947 in Lincoln Memorial Park in Portland, Multnomah Co., Oregon.

Bettie was born in 1858 in Wisconsin the daughter of Boyd Ferguson Seely (1835-1909) and Rebecca Allen (1837-1923). In 1877, she married Patrick H. Williams (1854-1936), with whom she had five children, including Mary Magdelene “Linnie” Williams (1883-1968), the adoptive mother of Maxine Elizabeth Davis (1912-1992), my paternal great grandmother.
